Fuerteventura Diving

The experience of Fuerteventura diving is a unique opportunity to discover a whole new world under the sea. There is an underwater paradise waiting to be discovered for those that want to try scuba diving for the first time, or are experienced divers.

Fuerteventura is the ideal place for scuba diving as it offers very clear waters and sea temperatures that are fairly constant all year round.  The temperature of the sea is between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius, and this means there is abundant sea life in the ecosystem that exists.

There are around 15 Dive Centre operators on Fuerteventura.  They are in the north of the island, at Corralejo and El Cotillo; in the middle of the island at Caleta de Fuste; and in the south of the island at Jandia.  They are all based near the best dive spots, and are usually reached by boat.

The professional dive masters and instructors offer a wide range of approved courses, such as PADI, at different levels.  So whether you are a beginner or want to try for your next level, there will be a course for you.  If you are an qualified diver then you’ll be able to go diving at the different dive sites and enjoy the unique experiences of Fuerteventura diving.

As Fuerteventura is a volcanic island, divers can experience dramatic rock formations, drop offs and reefs.  The marine life on view includes eagle rays, angel sharks, moray eels, barracudas, octopus, sea bream and tuna.  Sometimes you might even see a turtle. What you see can depend on the time of year and the sea temperature. In calm waters, the visibility can be up to 30 meters.

All of the dive centres have instructors who are bilingual, so you won’t have any problems with the language, as they will speak English.  You can hire all your dive equipment.  There are usually morning and afternoon dives; and for the experienced, night dives.  A dive will cost about 35 euros.

So if you are feeling adventurous and want to do something different on your holiday, then the opportunity to go diving in Fuerteventura might be just the thing for you.
