Fuerteventura Golf Holiday

A Fuerteventura golf holiday is the opportunity to play a round in the sunshine and pleasant temperatures at any time of the year. Playing golf on Fuerteventura is a relatively new experience, as the three main courses have only been established in the last 12 years.  Increasing numbers of people are coming to play golf and enjoy the sunshine and hospitality that is on offer on the island.

The first golf course to open was The Fuerteventura Golf Club in Caleta de Fuste, which is on the east coast, 12km from the airport.  It has 18 holes, with a distance of 6,078 metres for the men’s course and 5,782 for the ladies course.  There are two par 5 holes, twelve  par 4 holes and four par 3 holes.  The Elba Palace Hotel is on the course and offers 5 star accommodation.  Close by are the Elba Sara and the Elba Carlota Hotels which offer 4 star accommodation.

The second course in Caleta de Fuste is the Golf Club Salinas de Antigua.  This course is adjacent to the Fuerteventura Golf Club.  It has 18 holes and is par 70.  The distance is 5,409 for the men’s course and 4,652 for the ladies.  There are three par 5 holes, ten par 4 holes, and five  par 3 holes.  The villas at the course and nearby hotels offer the perfect location for a great golf holiday.

The third place for a Fuerteventura golf holiday is the Playitas Golf Course at Las Playitas, near Gran Tarajal on the east coast. It has 18 holes.  The distance is 5,409 metres for men, and 4,652 for ladies. There are three par 5 holes, seven par 4 holes and eight par 3 holes. The nearest accomdation is adjacent to the course and includes the 4 star Playitas Hotel, the Playitas Aparthotel and the Playitas Villas.

Green fees at all the courses do vary depending on the time of year or day that you play.  Fees can be around 60-70 euros, plus extras for club hire etc.

At Corralejo, in the north of the island, there is a 9 hole course, called the Mirador de Lobos Golf.  It has a distance of 673 metres.  All holes are par 3.

For anyone looking for a Fuerteventura golf holiday in the south of the island, the course in Jandia reopened in 2014, after being closed for a few years.  The course has 18 holes, with a par of 72, with a distance of 5857 metres. There are two par 5 holes, twelve par 4 holes and four par 3 holes.  The nearest accommodation is a short distance away in Jandia, where there is a range of hotels and apartments.

All courses have club houses and restaurants, and welcome all golfers with a handicap.  So you can either bring your own clubs or hire them and have a round of golf in ideal conditions.  Perhaps you could play all the courses during your Fuerteventura golf holiday.
